Thirty-three years have passed since Kwangju Women’s University of Songgang Educational Foundation was established as a place of learning at Eodeungsan Mountain by its founder, the late Dr. Oh Chi-seok, based on the philosophy that “when women learn and grow, society and the nation stand upright,” and under the educational ideals of “Women’s Education” and “Future Education.”

Kwangju Women’s University has undergone continuous change and has grown firmly into a small but strong university. To date, tens of thousands of graduates have become creative female talents and are actively working in various fields of society.

Songgang Educational Foundation would like to present three visions for Kwangju Women’s University.

First, we will renew the fundamentals and systems of education so that the university can become a “guide for the right path of learning.”

Second, we will place emphasis on “strengthening the foundation’s accountability” by reinforcing educational finances through various profit-making projects.

Third, we will further solidify the university’s status as a “leading university in MAUM Education.” MAUM Education, which began in 2015, is our university’s new educational philosophy. It can be called a great declaration that helps us rediscover human dignity, which has been damaged by industrialization. Through mindfulness and sharing of the mind, Kwangju Women’s University’s MAUM Education, which seeks to contribute to the development of the local community and make the world beautiful, will become a new model of character education and a new paradigm for university education.
