The Gwangju Women's University ( President Lee Seon-jae ) volleyball team is proving the competitiveness of university sports by achieving excellent athletic and career outcomes simultaneously, based on an educational system that allows student athletes to balance sports and academics .

 

Kim Min-chae, a first- year student in the Department of Sports Rehabilitation at Gwangju Women's University, enrolled at the university to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional athlete and has been leading her college life while balancing systematic training with her studies . Under the slogan " Once More, " the volleyball team operates an educational environment that supports not only the improvement of student-athletes' performance but also their academic studies and career planning .

 

Student Kim Min-chae steadily improved her skills under the guidance of Head Coach Choi Seong-woo, leading her team to an undefeated championship at the 2026 Korean Air Cup National University Volleyball Goseong Tournament and earning the honor of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award . Subsequently, in recognition of her outstanding performance, she secured admission to the Suwon City Hall Women's Volleyball Team, achieving a significant milestone that allowed her to take another step forward as an athlete .

 

The Gwangju Women's University Volleyball Team supports student athletes not only in improving their athletic performance but also in preparing for their major education, acquiring certifications , and planning their careers . Through this educational system, the team helps athletes maintain competitiveness in various fields even after graduation , and graduates continue to achieve success in diverse career paths, such as entering professional and corporate teams or finding employment .

 

Student Kim Min-chae shared her thoughts, saying,  I was able to continue both my athletic career and my studies at Gwangju Women’s University , and thanks to the support from the coach and the school, I was able to achieve good results,  and added ,  I want to work even harder in the future to grow into a good athlete 

 

Head Coach Choi Seong-woo said,  Our volleyball team’s goal is to support student athletes so that they can prepare not only for sports but also for their academics and career paths,  adding ,  As Kim Min-chae’s achievements are the result of the player’s own efforts and the school’s systematic support, we will continue to do our best to help students realize their dreams 

 

Gwangju Women's University plans to continue expanding field-oriented education and support so that student athletes can balance their athletic careers and academics, and grow into talented individuals who are competitive in both the professional stage and society .
